Sadu Chiru Waterfall


Sadu Chiru Waterfall

Sadu Chiru waterfall is a famous tourist tourist spot in Senapati. It is located at the Sadu Chiru village, a tribal village in Sadar hills of Senapati district. This fall is about 27 km from Imphal. The waterfall is an ideal spot for picnic lovers. The fall is visited by hundreds of tourists.

The surrounding natural vegetation of the waterfall is breathtakingly beautiful. The waterfall forms a major attraction for the local people due to its natural vegetation and rocky surrounding. The waterfall comprises of three falls. The first fall is about thirty metres high. There is a newly constructed park located on the side of the fall. The park is called Agape Park. The park is owned and managed by Kamlun Telien of Ichum Keirap.

Maram Khullen

Maram Khullen is a major tourist attraction of Senapati. It is one of the biggest and oldest villages of the state of Manipur. Maram Khullen is an ancient old village and is an ideal place for study of anthropologists and research scholars.

Yangkhullen


Yangkhullen

Yangkhullen is another major tourist spot in Manipur. It is an important village located here. It is located about 47 kms from the Maram Center in the Peren road. Yangkhullen is the largest Zemei village. Visitors can have a glimpse of the earlier primitive and traditional lifestyle. The village is set amidst the beautiful backdrop of a valley.

Mao

This is the last town of Manipur located near the border with Nagaland. Mao is about 107 kms from Imphal and about 28 kms from Kohima in Nagaland. The town is located at an altitude of 5762 feet from sea level and is of great historical significance. The most fascinating structure of Mao is the 100 years old Inspection Bungalow which was constructed in the year 1897.  The Mao Nagas resides here in this village. This village is considered as the granary of the neighboring villages. One can see both Naga and Manipuri culture here.

Makhel


Makhel

Makhel is the most famous place in Senapati.  It is a sacred place associated with the Naga origin and Meitei tribes. This village is well known for the farewell monolith which marks the parting ways of three brothers who were the sons of the first Mao in the Mao legend. It is also popular for the tri monoliths, village settlement stone, banyan trees etc. Mt. Isu is the highest peak of the entire region

Dzukou valley is a must visit tourist location in Senapati. This beautiful located near Makhel on the border of the states of Manipur and Nagaland. The Dzukou lily is a beautiful flower found only in this valley. The word ‘Dzukou’ derives its meaning from Angami/Mao word which means ‘cold water’. Dzukou valley is located at an altitude of 2438 meters above sea level behind the Japfu peak. One can reach the valley by trekking from the border town of Mao. The place looks beautiful during the winters as it receives snowfall it equally looks amazing during spring with the natural beauty.

Purul

Purul is another popular town in Senapati.  It is located about19 kms from Maram Khullen. The place is mostly famous for the indigenous games like Toutou and wrestling which are played here. Wrestling is traditionally played on the eve of paddy transplantation festival which is known as Paoki festival and Toutou game is played during the New Year festival.

Kaubru Mountain

Kaubru Mountain is a popular tourist place in Senapati. This is one of the highest peaks in the state of Manipur.  It is a holy place for the Manipuri people. This place is also the origin for many clans and tribes of Manipur. Kaubru Mountain is regarded as the most sacred place in Meitei folklore and religion. According to mythology, it is said that Pandavas visited this place. The mountain also has a long cave.

Kaubru Leikha

Located on National Highway 39, Kaubru Leikha is a major tourist spot in Manipur. This is one of the pious mountains locate in the state of Manipur. In the foothills of the mountain, there is a 300 year old Lord Koubru temple. Thousands of devotees visit this temple to offer prayers to Lord Koubru or Lord Shiva. The festival of Shivratri is celebrated with much festivity here. The temple is located on the banks of the Imphal River.
